If yourself or someone you know has lived or lives in a large city, you are well acquainted with the tight living quarters. The apartment markets consist of the minimum space amount needed for a person to live and then reduce that to the size of a nice walk- in- closet. And, that is if you are lucky for a wall-in-closet.  So, now you have found the closet that fits best, but how will you decorate such a small bathroom?  This can be a tedious task, but for some of you do-it-your selfers, this can be a great challenge and a lot of fun.  Below you will find some useful hints to help to decorate a not so large bathroom, whether you are decorating for yourself or for the aid to someone else.

When you find yourself decorating any sized room, have it be a bathroom or Den, unity is going to be essential.  Unity should be accomplished in two forms.  Scale is the first thing to determine. In this instance scale is the sizes of the different articles found in the room; furniture, lighting, cabinetry and other décor are relative in size to the room and to one another. For example; each piece of the décor, such as; the toilet, shower, sink and bathtub should be not be anything to large or too small. If they are over large it will be overwhelming visually and physically, by being pressed into such a small space.

The room should not be cluttered. Use smaller décor that will open up the room and remove some of the claustrophobic tendencies of the room.  The second form of unity that you need to be concerned with is when decorating bathrooms with limited space, color symmetry is very important.  Everything in the room should visually complement one another. This does not mean that every pattern or color must be the same, but colors that go well together. If you use too much of the same color it can create a visual bleak effect. However, if you have a unity of aesthetics creates a more singular, suitable look and feel.

Contrary to what you may think, decorating limit spaced rooms gives you an opportunity for self-expression both with the unity of color, texture and with unity in the size of décor.  You will be testing your creative juices just in finding the right things to go into such small areas. But, each piece will be something chosen for that particular spot with just that particular color and texture.  The bathroom can be one of the least expensive rooms in the house to decorate, because of the limitations with space.

So, whether you are looking for a visually appealing style, style and efficiency of the functional items, or both, you must remember unity; unity in the colors and styles of the small spaced bathroom, as well as, the size and the best placements for the functional items in the room.
