Bathtubs Now

Japanese bathtubs are known as Ofuro in Japan.  Their popularity has spread all over the world and they are now being made by Western companies too. Baths in Japan are as much about pleasure and relaxation as they are about washing and cleansing.  Bathing has taken on a whole new meaning than what it used to be and these small tubs are paving the way.  They are often installed in a fairly large room that has an alcove or “changing area” beside it.

Japanese bathtubs are made to withstand very hotter water, and if you want to have the true Japanese bathing experience you may want to consider turning up the temperature of your water heater. Japanese bath water typically tends to be much hotter than what Westerners normally find comfortable. You will find these are much deeper and larger than American tubs, and they’re more conducive to lounging and relaxing.  European countries also show much proclivity towards the usage of these for physical wellness and relaxation.

Japanese bathtubs are usually made of acrylic, and this means you can usually get them in various colors, shapes, sizes and it is easy to find one to suit your overall design needs. Instead of laying down as you would in a traditional tub, these are made with a seat for you to sit on.  Since the water is so deep, it allows you to be able to soak your entire body, where other tubs may only be able to help you soak a part of your body. When you sit in the seat of the tub, the water will literally be up to your neck. Most are well equipped with an upgraded sensor which can switch off the water flow after water has reached a prearranged level to prevent accidental overflow.

Normal bathing should be done before entering this type of bathtub because it is used only for soaking purposes instead of bathing.  You can also add other cultural items for a more authentic experience including Japanese bath towels which are typically called ta-o-ru. A Japanese style garden can also be added with accents that are spaced throughout the area to add a personal touch as they are beautiful spaces that you can retreat to and allow you to enjoy a time of quiet reflection.

It can be said that owning one of these tubs is an excellent choice because it can give complete satisfaction and comfort to the owner and provide a fantastic experience at the end of a hard day of work.
